About Reside

How Reside works.

Long-term homes in Malé, Hulhumalé and the islands, each one held to the same four standards.

The Standards

What you will always find here.

01

Prices upfront.

Every listing names the monthly rent. No rent, no listing.

02

Deposits upfront, and capped.

You see the deposit before you get in touch, and it is never more than two months' rent. Reside refuses a listing that asks for more.

03

Every listing is reviewed.

A person reads every listing before it is published. That takes a little longer, and it is worth it.

04

Reconfirmed every 30 days.

Every landlord confirms their listing is still free at least every 30 days. One that is not reconfirmed comes down, so what you find here is still for rent.

Questions

The short answers.

Do renters pay anything?
No. Browsing, contacting a landlord, saving listings and setting a Reside Watch are all free, and so is listing a home. The one paid thing is a landlord choosing to feature a listing, and that never skips review.
How long does review take?
Usually 24 to 48 hours. A person checks the photos, the rent, the deposit, the advance, the map pin and the phone number against one checklist that is the same for everyone.
What does the verified badge mean?
The landlord has confirmed their own number and matched a government ID to their listings. It is about the person, not the property, and the ID is never shown to anyone. Get verified
Is the deposit capped?
Yes, at two months' rent, under the Residential Tenancies Act (21/2021). Our listing form will not take more. Advance rent is a separate thing and sits on its own line. Deposit rules in full
Does Reside hold my money?
No. Rent and deposit go straight to the landlord. We take no commission, and we do not draft agreements or arrange viewings. You speak to the landlord yourself.
Something looks wrong. What do I do?
Use the report link on the listing, or the form on the support page. You do not need an account, and a person reads every report.
